Lavender Cottage is the most private of all our stays and perfect for families or traveling groups that don’t mind sharing rooms. A huge king bed graces an extension of the lounge (this can also be turned into two ample single beds) and another two singles are available in a separate bedroom (this again can be turned into a king bed). We can also bring an extra single bed into the bedroom for bigger families. The enclosed bathroom has a shower. The open-plan kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering, with a stove, oven, microwave, fridge/freezer and kettle. The Nespresso machine and home-made rusks are a treat for stoep-sitting as the sun rises. We also supply locally roasted coffee, especially blended for Yellow House, to use in the French press. The lounge with leather couch and vintage chairs is perfect for watching a rugby game or anything on the DSTV selection, or for enjoying the antique Dover stove as it heats the cold Karoo winter air. Air-conditioning and a fan keep the summer heat at bay and a stack of swimming towels and the nearby ‘Boordbad’ (swimming pool in the orchard) beckons you for a swim or a sit on the martini steps with a cold drink in hand, listening to the birds or the wind through the almond trees, gazing at the white line of a plane as it cuts through the blue, blue sky. And as the evening falls, light a fire on the stoep, lie on the little lawn and allow your breath to be taken away by the starry splendour of the night sky. Or saunter through the orange trees for a delicious dinner at EAT!
